Building Strong Partnerships – Livingstone Building Limited

Impact Tiling has partnered with Livingstone Building on a number of large-scale projects in recent years. A strong working relationship has been cultivated in the process, so in this blog we look into some of the most recent projects and how this positive partnership has grown.

Livingstone’s roots stem right back to the 1940s, when the initial business was started in Te Awamutu by the Cavanagh brothers.

It wasn’t until a few decades later that brothers Mike and David Livingstone joined the business. Making the change from farm labourers to apprentice carpenters, Mike and Dave went on to buy the company outright in 1982.

Since then, the company has grown enormously to be one of New Zealand’s most recognised and trusted construction firms.

Impact Tiling first begun working with Livingstone Building about 10 years ago and have since worked on a range of larger-scale commercial projects.

A recent completion was the David O. McKay Stake and Cultural Event Centre. The 4000m2  multi-use community building, developed for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its congregation, incorporates a chapel, cultural hall, teaching blocks and administration area, is part of the staged Temple View Project. A huge amount of tiling was involved in the fit-out.

Greg McAllister, Livingstone Builders Project Manager for the Temple View project had high praise for the Impact Tiling team.

“Impact Tiling was one of the best performing sub-contractors on the Hamilton Temple Projects,” says Greg.

“Given the project’s significant tiling scope and tight timeframes, communication and co-ordination from Management around resources, design and programme was outstanding throughout the duration of the project.”

This project required a huge amount of attention to detail and workmanship from the Impact Tiling installers, all the while being under tight time restrictions.

“It was noted by Livingstone at the start of the project that the client expected a ‘Temple Quality’ standard of finish, and even given the tight timeframes, Impact Tiling met this expectation” says Greg.

Impact Tiling have worked on a wide range of projects alongside the Livingstone’s Building team, from shop fit outs to major commercial refurbs, such as the Temple View project and always enjoy working alongside them as they are innovative, hardworking and hold themselves to a high standard of workmanship.

“We always enjoy working with the Livingstone team. From their management to their builders, we have built great relationships with the team and their work is always of such a high standard”, says Impact Tiling Supervisor, Paul Le Normand.

Other major projects the Impact Tiling team have worked with Livingstone Building on include the newly refurbished BMW dealership on Te Rapa Straight and the Bupa Foxbridge Retirement Village, Hamilton.
